"So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth." -- Baha'u'llah
The West Vancouver Baha'i Community in partnership with the School District and the Ferry Building Gallery is proud to present a mixed media exhibition of art by West Vancouver students from Sentinel, West Vancouver, Rockridge, Mulgrave and Collingwood Secondary Schools.
The mixed media art produced by the students is focused on the theme of 'Unity in Diversity' of humanity. The exhibition is this year’s offering of the Baha'i community on this theme.
The principle of Unity in Diversity has been celebrated by the Baha'i Community for the past twelve years. In the past eleven years, the Unity in Diversity Awards have been given to worthy individuals and/or organizations which promote unity between diverse groups.
Past Award winners include Geoff Jopson, Superintendent of Schools, Ruth Payne, Visual Arts Coordinator of the Ferry Building Gallery, Douglas Macaulay, Director of the West Vancouver Youth Band, Harold Rosen, an interfaith educator and Maryl Stewart, a teacher.
Tribute
Maryl Stewart, a West Vancouver Secondary teacher, who was the recipient of the Unity in Diversity Award in 2006 passed away on 21 February. Maryl had received the Award for her outstanding contributions in promoting understanding and respect among students of diverse races, cultures, genders and social class.
The West Vancouver Baha'i Community extends its condolences to Maryl's family and friends.
